Sarah Polley is the author and director of the 2022 American drama film titled Women Talking. It is based on Miriam Toews’ 2018 book of the same name, which was inspired by actual occurrences in the Manitoba Colony in Bolivia. [4] Starring in the movie are Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Ben Whishaw, Judith Ivey, Jessie Buckley, and Frances McDormand, who is also a producer.
Women Talking made its global premiere on September 2, 2022, at the 49th Telluride Film Festival. United Artists Releasing then distributed the movie in select theatres in the United States on December 23, 2022, before giving it a wide release on January 20, 2023.
Critics praised Polley’s screenplay and directing, the cast’s performances (especially Foy, Buckley, and Whishaw), and the film’s score. The National Board of Review and the American Film Institute ranked it one of the best 10 movies of 2022, and it was nominated for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay at the 95th Academy Awards.
